The RailStaff Awards 2024

Nominations for Rail Person of the Year

Felix Chamberlain

Said the following about Amanda Hoyland:

“Amanda organised work experience students from Swindon University Technical College to gain experience across the region. In the last year Amanda organised nine students to work in civil engineering, project management, signalling engineering and Route modernisation. Amanda has been the business contact for the UTC, since NR became involved with them by invite when they started planning their opening three years ago. Amanda has dedicated personal time to arrange the placements with other line managers every year, by seeking willing volunteers. The volunteers who then take on placements arrange the content of the experience.

“We need proactive people like Amanda to help us achieve our targets for work experience in the region. Work experience is vital for students to learn more about the rail industry and the opportunities that are available to them. By inspiring tomorrow’s workforce we will encourage talented people into the industry.”
