“Alan Spring has been on the railway for 26 years, almost 18 as a driver and 14 as a driver trainer. He has had 15 trainees all of who. Have successfully passed their exams and all who love and respect him.
Alan loves working on the railway and is the most knowledgeable when it comes to anything to do with routes, traction or stock. Among his peers, he is the go-to person for anything driver related. He religiously reads his rail magazine subscription cover to cover on a monthly basis to keep up with the latest trends in the industry.
Alan has an excellent sense of humour and, along with his colleagues, has made the Black Shift an enjoyable place to work. The fact that he tells people his job is his hobby and is an exemplary member of staff is the reason I would like to nominate Alan for this award.“
