Said the following about Kimberley Carter:

“Kim was off-duty when she helped a man with potentially life-threatening injuries, alongside PCSO Benji Neale.

The pair found the man bleeding profusely from a deep cut to the back of his hand by the ticket barriers in October last year and immediately went to his aid.

Clearly unwell and in mental health crisis, the man stated he wanted to harm himself and refused any medical treatment.

Due to severe blood loss, the man’s lips were beginning to turn blue, Kim managed to persuade him he needed help, the man eventually allowed the PCSO to tend to his wounds until an ambulance arrived. It was later discovered he had eight blades on him.

Kim was awarded a BTP commendation for her actions. Policing commander for the South West, Superintendent Matt Allingham, said: “Despite the distressing circumstances, both remained calm and were able to gain the trust of a volatile and vulnerable person to ensure he received the right care.”“
