“Eddie and his colleague where on routine patrols of Romford Station when they were alerted via the Station Radio to a male who had push through the gate line and was headed towards Platform 5.
Eddie and his colleague proceeded to try and gain the male’s attention while on route to the Platform but the male failed to acknowledge them, as the male approached the platform edge he climbed down straight onto the operational railway.
On seeing the male entering the operational railway the team immediately raised both arms to signal to the train entering platform 5 to stop.
Eddie and his colleague engaged in conversation with the male and after sometime convinced him to come back up to the platform where they put him in a position of safety until the BTP and Paramedics arrived. While in conversation with the male he admitted that his intentions was to end his life.
I believe the actions of both Eddie and his Colleague saved the gentleman's life and further distress to staff and members of the public.“
