Said the following about Colin Hamer - **HAS LEFT**:

“Colin is a platform assistant and on the night of 19th April 2017 he prevented a man from jumping in front of a train. The incident happened in the early evening when the station was very busy and Colin was preparing to dispatch a train from his platform. Despite concentrating on the safety aspects of the dispatch, he kept his awareness of the passengers on the platform and noticed an apparently distraught man enter the platform from the main steps. The man started to run on the platform and Colin quickly realised that he was intending to jump in front of the departing train. The rest of the station staff were at other platforms due to the busy time of day and so despite being on his own, Colin reacted instantly and physically grabbed the man in a bear hug to stop him from jumping. Despite the larger man struggling to break free, Colin managed to hold him until colleagues and the BTP could arrive a couple of minutes later. Without Colin's awareness, quick thinking and bravery I am certain that the young man would've succeeded in his suicide attempt.“
