Said the following about Caroline Horne:

“Caroline Horne has work for in the rail industry for 26 years in the ticket office, In June 2016 Caroline decided a change of role to Ro2s.

In September 2016 Caroline was working early turn at the station about 13.07 she noticed a young female who seemed agitated and behaving in a manner that was not normal.

Caroline approached the girl to assess and talk to her. The young girl told Caroline that she felt suicidal so Caroline stayed with her keeping her calm trying to persuade her to move into the Ro2 mess room which was on Platform 2 for her safety.

The police were called to attend. When the police officer arrived he was on his own so Caroline stayed with the girl as she had a calming influence over her while the policeman made all the necessary calls to metal health team.

The young girl was clearly vulnerable and a danger to herself.

Caroline was compassionate and caring towards the young girl during this stressful time for all and without Caroline intervention the outcome could have been different.

After the event I spoke to Caroline she said “I never been so scared “but she knew it was the right thing to do.

PC Haydn Payne attend this and has sent in a letter of recommendation about Caroline actions on this day.“
