Said the following about Ashleigh McIlroy:

“What can we say about Ashleigh, apart from the fact that everyone here would have been lost without her during this Covid-19 pandemic. She is a superb internal communications professional who has been pivotal to ensuring staff within NI Railways at all levels, were consistently communicated with in a timely, empathetic and meaningful way.

When Covid-19 hit us, Ashleigh was integral in fast-tracking internal communications channels (that were already in the pipeline) to be developed and rolled out within weeks rather than months or even years. She had the daunting task of transforming internal communications within Translink in a very short period of time - taking responsibility for pulling together regular and informative staff briefings, even though things were changing so rapidly and uncertainty and anxiety were common.

She was at the forefront of our new 'Translink SPIRIT' app which, for the first time, gave staff at all levels within the company access to a new suite of internal comms, pay-roll, HR and well-being tools and resources. This ensured employees were kept informed, engaged and encouraged at all stages of the unprecedented changes we have seen over the past 12 months.

At a time when mental well-being has never been so important, Ashleigh shared regular and informative briefings and resources on managing one's state of mind, ranging from resources and support for home-schooling, how to work safely from home and even a quarantine journal! All of the messages she communicated with staff internally were friendly, encouraging, positive and even inspiring. She was always at hand when anyone needed her and I know that front-line staff in particular really appreciated just how much she transformed employee engagement forever within our organisation.

Ashleigh is an unsung hero who deserves recognition for everything she has done for us at a time when we needed to be kept engaged, informed and reassured. She is also a lovely person who has always been very approachable and warm. She has been a calm, professional and light-hearted supportive presence in over 4000 employee's lives and has helped keep us all sane. Thank you Ashleigh.“
