Said the following about Tracey Barber - **HAS LEFT**:

“I am nominating Tracey Barber for “HR, Diversity & Inclusion Person or Team of the Year” category as I believe her vision, outreach and results for encouraging young people into rail has and will continue to encourage a growing diverse workforce.

Tracy has a real passion for the railway, its people and inspiring young people to look at a career choice in rail. Tracey founded the Rail Human Library, a not for profit engagement programme for young people. This is a new concept with the pilot going extremely well.

Rail Human Library an engagement piece for young people to sit face to face with industry workers, covering a plethora of job roles, to talk, encourage and generally educate in the wide variety of job roles within the industry. Rail Human Library is still in its early stages of development but has so far reached hundreds of pupils in Manchester with results following the event showing that a massive 64% of pupils would consider a career in rail following interaction with the industry.

Tracey has done this voluntarily in addition to her day job co ordinating large parts of the sector to come together to talk to young people in a coordinated way demonstrating the different roles rail has to offer. The statistics speak for themselves - If we could potentially change the minds of 64 out of 100 pupils, imagine what we could do if RHL was a nationwide engagement piece?

I believe Tracey is leading by example with all the right behaviours and trying to find innovative ways to address the challenges rail faces with skills.“
