Amy Rea

Said the following about Tom Robinson:

“Tom was the Designated Project Engineer, leading the team of Network Rail and Atkins Engineers who introduced a new digital signalling system on the Shepperton branch. This was the first project on Network Rail using this new Signalling and Level Crossing technology.

Tom was key to the success of the project delivering excellent high quality of work and a great team spirit. He is organised, structured and always displays a confident and proactive approach to solving problems.

The Shepperton scheme successfully commissioned in June 2019 and has delivered high reliability since commissioning. It involved removing the existing relay interlocking and lineside equipment and replacing them with modular designed programmable equipment developed to meet modern enhanced safety standards. Since the commissioning the system has demonstrated high levels of reliability. The project was the pilot scheme to demonstrate the proposed technology for the wider Feltham & Wokingham Area Re-signalling and marked the first passenger introduction of the Atkins’ ElectroLogIXS interlocking onto the UK mainline railway.

The project was a stepping stone to the future roll out of this technology which over the next few years will be delivered onto the Norwich-Yarmouth-Lowestoft resignalling scheme, and across all phases of the Feltham resignalling scheme.

Tom has worked collaboratively with Atkins and the whole Feltham Project Team to deliver the project. He has demonstrated an ability to adapt his skills to changing environments and ways of working and is an example to all he works with.“
