“The Metro CDM team have been working tirelessly in the last 12 months to drive down safety of the line incidents across the Southern network.
Within GTR's Zero Harm initiative, the team locally have worked to identify trends which could lead a driver to have an incident and work to drive these down. This data driven approach has already begun to see results, with a reduction already being seen in the data with speeds towards PSRs at the areas measured, meaning there is less chance of a driver having a TPWS incident.
There are other projects to support driver development including the use of the simulator to establish precursors to incidents, a push to ensure non-technical skills are understood and drivers understand them and their relevance to train driving.
They also support the business by driving down the no-cover issues at high risk times such as summer holidays and Christmas.
The team work well really with the driver line management team to support driver development and reduce the prevalence of safety of the line incidents.
