“Simon identified a young lady who looked troubled, he approached her and started to chat to her. The lady had travelled from Chester to Stockport on a single ticket with the intent of taking her own life. Simon noticing her vulnerable she was, moved her to a position of safety and shared his own experience of the effects of suicide on friends and family, he showed compassion and built up trust with this young lady. The BTP were contacted and an ambulance was called.
Well done Simon, without you tuning in to her behaviour and going with your instinct that this lady was vulnerable the outcome could have been a lot different.“
