Said the following about Samuel Darko:

“Since I met Sam four years ago he has always been the most giving a caring person I have met. When dealing with fare evaders and offenders on the GTR route as a REO he always takes the time to find out the reason behind their behaviour and how he can advise or help them to change. I often see young people come back on the train who previously offended that now have tickets and always take time to shake Sam’s hand.

2019 Sam took his patience and positive outlook and took on two big Charity Challenges. Born in Ghana Sam left when he joined the Army, however 2020 marks 25 years since he graduated School. Along with his fellow graduates Sam continued the selfless tradition of raising money to build a new three storey science block at his old school. Rather than do a few raffles Sam decided to take on the challenge of cycling 1000 miles in 60 days, the equivalent from Adisco to Mansyte. Sam completed this within the 60 days before and after his working shifts and around supporting his family, raising a total of £1473! If this wasn't enough Sam followed this up two months later by taking part in the GTR Palace 2 Palace 90 mile bike ride! The team raised over £5000 between them. Sam always puts others first and with this award I would like to see Sam be put first and shown how appreciated he is.“
