Said the following about Samantha Kay:

“I use northern to travel too and from work. I'm working for ISS facilities ltd and contracted to the railways as a cleaner. A lot of virgin and northern staff see us as not working for the railways so often we can be blanked or spoken to rudely. Not Sam because everytime she is my guard there is always a smile for me and all the other passengers and when she gets the chance will take time out and chat with me. It's the small things that add up in a persons life that makes things feel good. When she is my guard I feel like I am part of the big railway family. Sam thank you for being you.“

Barry Knock

Said the following about Samantha Kay:

“Always provides a first class customer service, looking out for those that need most help, such as the disabled, parents with young children and people with large amounts of luggage. NOTHING is too much trouble for Sammie to ensure that the customers expectations are exceeded. Sammie always has a smile on her face.“

Stephen Elliott

Said the following about Samantha Kay:

“Many of us regular customers know Sammie as that crazy redhead, because she does everything possible to ensure they "her" passengers enjoy the best possible journey. She is like a mother hen looking after those passengers who need that little bit extra. She displays some of the best interpersonal skills displayed by any conductor on the rail network. Problems are always dealt with effectively and efficiently, such as when the swing bridge at Goole was stuck open and between herself and the signal woman ensured water was provided to those that needed it.“

“Samantha or Sammie as she is on train is a warm, friendly lass and ALWAYS has a welcoming, beaming smile (aswell as bright hair!). She's a great role model for others and nothing is too much trouble for her. It's the little things that make a difference to a journey, a warm smile, friendly atmosphere or even a little doodle on your ticket when it's checked :) . Train staff often get alot of flack but people like Sammie are a credit to your company and the industry. Sammie deserves to be recognised for her pride and passion, commitment to her passengers and just doing her job with a little extra spirit.
