Said the following about Robbie Burgess:

“Robbie has been working as part of the TPE Train Planning team for the last 18 months. His role is to plan all the train movements for the introduction of TPE’s new train’s fleets. There are three new fleets being introduced at the same time. Each fleet requires bespoke Train Planning arrangements. Robbie has to plan driver training paths, paths to and from maintenance depots and swaps to diagrams for the trains to enter service.

To meet this requirement Robbie represents Train Planning on numerous conference calls where specifications for the train movements are discussed. Robbie then translates this into pathing and diagramming requirements. Robbie must then prepare STP bids for each of these movements by identifying paths and submitting the documentation to the Network Rail Train Panning team in Milton Keynes.

For a great variety of reasons, the requirements of the Projects can change at short notice. To manage these short notice changes Robbie must often deal directly with the VSTP Controllers based in Glasgow, Manchester and York. Robbie is in charge of 10-15 diagrams per day each with very different specifications.

Robbie must also communicate the plans to all the relevant train crew, controllers and managers who work across different organisations. Robbie takes his role very seriously and can often be found interacting with the Control rooms or train crew late into the night. Nevertheless he is always bright and cheerful to all his colleagues. His approachable demeanour and willingness to help is appreciated by everybody and the Project is in a stronger position as a result of his participation.“
