“Richard Baker is one of the most wonderful people you will ever have the privilege of meeting. He has done several years’ service in the rail industry now, growing into a wonderful individual and is loving his latest position as a community ambassador for the upcoming Elizabeth line. All the customers that he served for many years still know, remember and love him. He has a fantastic relationship with his colleagues who all love him as well.
He quite often works with the young newcomers into the industry, making sure they go home with a smile every day after a hard day at work. He also has reached out to the vulnerable and less confident population in the community to try the train, have cab rides and gain the knowledge and push they needed to start travelling more by rail. He is an absolute inspiration and that's why he is in my eyes, the Rail person of the year. However he needs to work on his lovable but terrible sense of humour!“
