“Ramla has had an incredible journey to get where she is today. After completing her school education and a dental nurse apprenticeship in Zurich, Switzerland, she travelled to England for a friend’s wedding and loved it so much- she decided to stay!
Her GTR career started as a member of the train presentation team and in her 9 years with the company, she has worked her way up and held many positions including Gateline, Sales, Accounts and most recently, Passenger Host.
Ramla, who is fluent in three languages, took the position of Apprentice Station Manager in May 2019.“
“I nominated Ramla because she always wanted to step up into leadership and this job as an Apprenticeship Manager gave the opportunity to do what she really likes.
I met Ramla at London Victoria when I started as a ticket office sales point for Southern. When I started my job Ramla was a customer service host and then Step up Team leader.
Ramla does a first class job doing all jobs, team presentation, gateline, dispatching, ticket office, customer service host and steps up team leader and then customer service host again.
As a team leader Ramla always used to be fair with the staff and excellent approach towards customers. Always helping and supporting the team. Excellent customer service and good colleague to work along.
Ramla was always open to learn new things and she helped with training sharing her product knowledge. Ramla have a professionalism and positive attitude .Ramla speaks more languages .“
“I felt extremely honoured when i received an invite for the Rail Staff awards 2014. I really did not expect it so it was a very pleasant surprise and had no hesitation in accepting the invite to this prestigious event. My experience of the evening was amazing. We choose to get into the spirit of the evening and arrive in fancy dress which thankfully so did a lot of other people. The food was of fantastic quality and the little deserts were the best. The entertainment provided was thoroughly entertaining. The evening was expertly planned from beginning to end. It was a very humbling experience to watch the nominees and winners and listen to the reasons why they were there. I felt extremely proud to be part of the railway family.”
