Said the following about Prisca John:

“Using care and compassion to save a life

At 0730 on 20 March Prisca arrived at the station to board a train towards London. She was approached by a member of the public who told her there was a lady in the corner of the main car park who was crying and threatening to jump in front of a train.

Prisca acted immediately – she asked a colleague to call the BTP and get a caution out to trains through the area while she went to find the lady. Having found her, she sat down and started a conversation, asking why she was there and her intentions. Prisca found out she was having domestic problems and struggling to cope with her life.

After talking for some 20 minutes, Prisca was able to calm the lady sufficiently to find out where she lived and if anyone was at home. The lady lived nearby and Prisca took her home, continuing to talk to her and including her husband in the conversation. After a while, the situation became calm and after a group hug, Prisca returned to work.

The next day, the couple left a card at the station for Prisca, thanking her for her care and compassion“
