Said the following about Megan Rutter:

“Megan is an outspoken ambassador for women in engineering, and this year became one of Network Rail's first women to pass the new Level 3 Rail Engineering Technician Apprenticeship Standard. She balanced her learning with assisting the Apprenticeship Training Team in developing improvements showing maturity and creativity throughout, and also attended multiple industry events to encourage employers to promote apprenticeships to young women.

Megan has been in learning since 2016. She has shown herself talented in the practical elements of her apprenticeship - from soldering to wiring circuits - as well as working proactively as a crew from her Liverpool depot. But as well as being a great team-member in orange PPE, she's proven a great team-member in a business suit too. She has spoken publically at many events, including to the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport and to Permanent Secretary Bernadette Kelly. Whenever she has done this she has been truly inspiring and a great role-model for other engineers. She also attends business meetings at Network Rail where she makes recommendations to the company's apprenticeship schemes and is never shy in challenging senior management when she does this.

Megan is a great role-model for young people out there. That she can switch between PPE and business wear like some kind of superhero shows the wide range of talents she has, and the future she holds for the industry.“
