“Lorraine has shown her professionalism and caring attitude towards members of the public and our passengers through her actions at Liverpool South Parkway (LSP) Station. Her calmness and quick actions are exemplary and she is a great role model for her colleagues within the business.

She deals with challenging situations calmly and her actions demonstrate her commitment to the safety and wellbeing of Merseyrails customers.

Lorraine has the confidence from her training to deal with incidents as well as possessing the self-assurance to handle situations sensitively.

Lorraine is a Station Assistant at Liverpool South Parkway (LSP) Station and we believe that she brings the company values to life on a day to day basis whilst on duty at the Station hence submitting this nomination for careful consideration.

Whilst proactive and inclusive stand out for us we have to be honest that Lorraine does what she does with a genuine desire to help and always portrays a professional image so really she demonstrates all of our values.

Lorraine has a very proactive approach to work and naturally leads her peers at LSP. They have been faced with various stressful situations and serious incidents such as major service disruption, derailments and fatalities and even the influx of thousands of additional passengers planned and unplanned with the Lime St mainline closures. Even during such times she takes the lead remaining calm, focused and professional throughout, ensuring safety, crowd control and customer service are a priority. She doesn’t need direction she just steps in and effectively leads the team as it’s an unsupervised station.

LSP is a very busy station and if/when service disruption etc occurs it can be manic therefore Lorraine tries her best to control the situation straightaway until a manager can arrive to support if and as necessary. She genuinely cares about the station, her colleagues, our customers and the business overall therefore goes out of her way to look to resolve issues, keep customers informed and to support her colleagues to ensure that everyone is safe, kept informed and their needs are met.

Lorraine has a very professional and proactive worth ethic. She is a very strong, independent women but a very friendly, likeable and genuine person therefore can easily gain buy in and influence her peers. She has supported the team at LSP and more importantly the management team on numerous occasions. She is very professional in her approach and her passed work and also life experience have helped her deal with various stressful situations calmly, empathetically and compassionately.

Lorraine has dealt with numerous incidents such as major service disruption, a derailment and fatalities. Regardless of the gravitas of the situation she consistently displays leadership skills, professionalism, empathy and commitment to her role and the customer. She regularly deals with challenging situations, taking ownership and responsibility throughout.“
