“Rail Project Manager Award - Lara Akers - Amey
Lara Akers is a dedicated, delivery focussed, collaborative and effective Project Manager. She consistently goes the extra mile working tirelessly with Network Rail and the Amey team to ensure her projects are successful and delivered smoothly to client expectations, on time or ahead of schedule.
Working on Cambridge Inner GRIP 1-3; on the re-signalling of the station area, Lara has led a challenging project to complete these works on time and under budget. Due to Lara’s successful delivery on Cambridge Inner, Network Rail have awarded Lara’s team the Cambridge Outer works GRIP 1-3.
Lara takes a highly collaborative approach to project management and embeds herself within the client team to ensure she can meet their needs on all projects she runs. By working very closely with the Network Rail Team, she has been able to address and resolve any challenges that have occurred during the project and has specialised in strong client collaboration whilst also leading and supporting her delivery team.
An exceptional communicator, Lara works hard effectively managing her stake holders, sub-contractors, client representatives and suppliers. She leads the team through the forming, norming stage on all projects she runs, always with the result of a high performing team.
Lara’s work has been described as exemplary and she has received a special commendation from the NR Project Director who was impressed with the success her projects and has requested she pulls together her lessons learned so that her effective and collaborative way of working can be shared across the sector.
