Said the following about Jack Sherrington and Stuart Young:

“In 2019 at the Station REO Jack Sherrington and REO Stuart Young were faced with a harrowing situation.

They noticed a female had gone off the end of the platform and was trackside. The female was slashing at her arms with a razor blade and bleeding. The officers tried to reason and coax the female back up but to no avail. Staff were a long way off up the platform and there was no signal box phone, with a train immanently approaching the platform pressure was on to notify the signalman and the approaching train. REO Sherrington focused on the female whilst REO Young not wanting to leave his colleague alone with an armed vulnerable female was able to make manual warning signs to platform staff and the approaching train by waving it down. It was at this point the female made a further run up the track toward the oncoming train when REO Sherrington was able to apprehend her and both officers pulled her to the safety of the platform and began administering first aid to her wounds.

Both officers had only minutes to make the decisions they did and showed great skill and bravery in saving the female from what could’ve been a tragic outcome.“
