“The Duty Station Manager received a call to advise that a customer had fallen on the track within the London Underground platforms sub surface. The Platform Host immediately displayed the emergency signal by raising both arms in order to get the power switched off and to stop the approaching train from coming into the station. Another team colleague immediately contacted the Heathrow Rail Control Room so that Emergency services could be alerted. The Emergency Services were called and co-ordinated to the actual location by the Heathrow Rail Control Room Team, they arrived and safely removed the customer off of the tracks. The customer was taken to hospital with a serious head wound and was given the appropriate medical attention. If it were not for the excellent teamwork displayed between the Platform and Control Room colleagues this incident may have resulted in a far more serious situation.
