Oliver Turner

Said the following about Gwynn Jones:

“This year is Gwyn's 51st continuous year on the railway.

Gwyn is the centre of operations and everyone across our region and differing companies know he's the man to ring when help is needed. They know this because not only is his knowledge encyclopaedic, he is kind and interested no matter what.

With an eye on the future Gwyn is keen to help and foster new entrants on the railway and works tirelessly to assist and shape future managers of the industry.

Gwyn is known from Penzance to Dover via Crewe and the respect and time colleagues old and new have for him is surely a sign of a lifetime of achievement.“

Grace Roche

Said the following about Gwynn Jones:

“Gwyn's railway career has spanned over 51 years and throughout that time he has been involved in the major redevelopment of our railway across various routes.

Not only is his an expert in his field but he is extremely talented individual who has dedicated his entire career to rail both through the good and tough times.

He has been a fantastic mentor and continues to demonstrate his passion towards making the railway better each day.“

Tom Causebrook

Said the following about Gwynn Jones:

“I have worked with Gwyn for years, without his input schemes such as Thameslink and the London Bridge redevelopment would have been extremely difficult. Gwyn is my go to man for everything and anything, whether it's a question on signalling at Lewes or HST formations in the late 90s.“

Ivan Davenport

Said the following about Gwynn Jones:

“I started work with Gwynne in 1971 as guard, Gwynne had already done 12 months as a box lad in Sth Jnc. Oh what a railway and what fun. Gwynne was fist to try promotion and left as a young man to Rugby as a charge hand. He soon started rising through the grades and we met up years later in 1994 and privatisation of the railway with GW trains.

I retired in 2009 but Gwynne still had lots to give and continued with his love of life on the railway

Never heard him moan about anyone and always supportive of anyone and everyone

I don't think he was ever issued with a F1!!

Great guy and friend“
