Said the following about Fatima Noor:

“Fatima is an individual who leads from the front as a diversity and inclusion champion. Whilst undertaking her role as an information co-ordinator within Romford Rail Operating Centre (ROC), Fatima successfully created an atmosphere of inclusion and open discussion which has brought operating staff together.

In what is considered as a fairly un-diverse, hands on, and high-pressured environment, for Fatima to be able to involve controllers in discussion and get her message across has been nothing short of amazing.

In this environment, Fatima has created an atmosphere of inclusion and open discussion. She encourages open and honest debates with everyone and her peers have commended her for being very approachable should they wish to discuss any issues relating to diversity or inclusion.

Not only has Fatima been instrumental in bringing diversity and inclusion to the route control and having a positive impact on the Network Rail staff, but she has also involved and influenced employees from train operating companies who are also based at the same location.

Fatima’s passionate approach to diversity & inclusion has not gone unnoticed by her peers, as she recently won the diversity & inclusion award at the local Anglia Champion Employee Awards. As one of her colleagues noted, her approach to diversity & inclusion ‘spills over and becomes very contagious’. With Fatima’s influence, she has created a comfortable and inclusive environment for control staff, which will ultimately have a positive impact on the passenger experience.“
