Nominations for Apprentice of the Year

Said the following about Demi Woodham:

“Demi has been nominated for demonstrating her tenacious and hard-working approach as an Apprentice. Completing the Rail Traction and Rolling Stock Engineering Apprenticeship, she has shown a diligent attitude and a strong self-belief that the opportunity to develop her career and succeed was possible. Juggling the commitment of attending college, workplace assessments and becoming a young mum at the start of her third year of her apprenticeship; Demi has shown perseverance and a passion for engineering.

Demi has showcased to others how rewarding a career in engineering can be and has highlighted how an interest at an early age of being interested in problem-solving and fixing things, has led to a profession that has boosted her confidence and one that is full of job satisfaction. Before starting her four-year Apprenticeship, Demi thought the Apprenticeship would be just like school. Upon starting the Apprenticeship Demi quickly learnt that the Apprenticeship was a welcomed alternative to school education - a clear structure was provided, with lots of practical experience. The recognition of this Award would acknowledge and appreciate the hard work that she has demonstrated to date; valuing her contribution to fulfilling the high demand for trains across the country.

Demi was given the opportunity to defer her HNC by a year when having her son, but she convinced us that she had the drive and determination to successfully complete her first year again with a lot of hard work and additional study time she achieved her goal.“
