“David and his colleague were carrying out security patrols of the High Speed 1 infrastructure when they were called to attend an over line road bridge due to a vulnerable male.
They arrived at the road bridge and immediately saw the male on top of the bridge over the tracks, with their railway competencies they made their way trackside to be able to communicate better with the male. They engaged in conversation with the male who stated 'he was suicidal and in a bad place', after a short time they were able to gain his trust and talk the male down from the bridge where BTP were able to guide him away from the railway and into their vehicle until an ambulance arrived.
The Team remained on site for the males comfort and also located the male’s belongings that he had left next to the operational fence. The male thanked the team for talking to him and returning his belongings.“
