Said the following about David Fisher:

“David Fisher volunteered to help our safety team in Rail by streamlining the Fire Drill process. This is a process whereby we deliberately conduct a live fire evacuation in the rail station during operational hours.

Heathrow Rail has recently taken over (from Heathrow Express) the station management function of the 3 x rail stations at Heathrow.

The process had to be changed to ensure we as Heathrow Rail are able to meet the sub surface legal requirements.

He worked with the Safety Manager to construct the process. David then took the process and implemented it. He has carried out numerous fire drills over the last 6 months.

He has been the Person in Charge which means he plans the drill, carries out all the onsite/on the day preparation. He will advise all parties of the drill and carry out a debrief after the drill has concluded. He also collates all the report forms and recommendations and send s to relevant parties. All recommendations are then discussed at the Fire Safety Engagement Group meeting monthly. David is also tracking with colleagues have taken part in a live evacuation. To date 52% of our frontline station colleagues have been part of a live or drill fire evacuation over the last 6 months.

I have nominated David for this award as he is actively driving continuous safety improvement. Due to his efforts we have seen a huge increase in the number of Colleagues who have taken part in fire drills and as such, are better prepared to react and carry out their duties in the event of an evacuation or major incident.“
