Said the following about Clive Glanville James Rowledge:

“Joint award: Working collaboratively to help save a life - Clive Glanville and James Rowledge

On 18 April, while Clive was preparing to dispatch his train, two passengers walked down the platform from the first carriage and alerted him to a woman who was trying to commit suicide with a dog lead.

He walked through the train and entered the front carriage where he saw a lady seated directly behind the driver’s cab with what appeared to be a dog lead pulled tight around her throat. She was gagging for air and already very blue in the face. Clive knew he needed to get the lead off quickly and although he spoke to her and tried to take off the lead, he was unable to as she pushed his hands away.

Clive used his initiative and quick thinking to alert the driver, James Rowledge. Working together, Clive and James were able to save the passenger’s life - Clive kept her talking and held her hands and wrists which meant that James was able to remove the lead and stay with her until help arrived.“
