Said the following about Catherine Bridges:

“CSA Catherine Bridges has been the heart of community projects at Ebbsfleet International, working every year on both the Lights of Life at Christmas and the Accumulator Challenge, all to raise money for Ellenor Hospice, in Kent.

At no point do you think that a loved one may need this service. Sadly, this year, Catherine received the horrific news that her mum had cancer.

Knowing that previous charity events have been greatly successful at Ebbsfleet, Catherine decided to use her mums’ diagnosis to take her charitable efforts one step further and asked Station Manager Danny Hawkins about the possibility of holding a classic car day at Ebbsfleet on August 14th.

Catherine took on all the organisational work herself and everything was put in place for August 14th. Unfortunately, heavy rain visited Ebbsfleet that day and the event was forced to be rescheduled to the following week. Many people were expected, and around 10 classic vehicles. However, Catherine had contacted so many people that were so enthused to take part, the whole of the West Coach Yard was full of classic car exhibitors. Catherine also arranged cake sales and children’s games and competitions so that there was something for everyone.

The event was truly exceptional, was well received by the passengers, and we were all blown away by the number of people and car enthusiasts alike who came down to the station.

The event raised £1115 in total for the Ellenor Hospice, all as a result of the effort, dedication and passion that Catherine put in to help other families in a similar situation to hers. We feel that this is a huge achievement and deserves recognition.“
