Said the following about Cath Broughton:

“During disruption in June (and I mean really, really bad disruption!) a lady climbed onto the over bridge at a station threatening to jump. Cath and her colleague Niall managed to talk to her and gain her trust as she wouldn’t speak to the BTP. They talked her down, being patient and compassionate the whole time. They took her into the cafe on the station and continued to talk with her for a further hour or so. She was clearly dealing with some issues. All the while supporting her and eventually gaining her trust enough to chat to BTP. Cath ensuring she was empathetic and open at all times. Niall spoke to her sister on the phone and explained the situation. The paramedics eventually arrived and were able to take the lady for some professional help. This award would be so special for them as recognition for their commitment to supporting a very vulnerable customer during what was already a very frustrating day. A day that had approx. 1000 customers stranded at the station, taxis gridlocking the city centre with our customers to and from the north and a lack of trains“
