Nominations for Graduate or Newcomer Award

Jim Douglas

Said the following about Cameron Dalziel:

“Having been with AECOM for a year, Cameron Dalziel is working with AECOM's Assurance and Advisory team as hazard record manager for the Beckton Depot Upgrade. We have introduced, for the first time, a data platform for the integrated management of requirements, interfaces and hazards. Cameron has embraced the concept and made several upgrade suggestions through his use of the system that will enhance the product for the next group of users. His forward thinking and ability to turn ideas into action is just a small part of his excellent approach to how he makes a difference.

His communication throughout the organisation is clear and consistent. With ease, he can prioritise others' work to the benefit of the overall objective, without cajoling or histrionics he provides senior team members with reasons why the project needs must have priority. In return you are guaranteed that any action he is given will be completed on time and to an impeccable quality.

His work ethic is incredible, juggling several high-profile projects, yet consistently delivering on time and right first time with no fanfare and demonstrating behaviours of tact, diplomacy and engagement in all his interactions.

There remains time for humour and humanity in his working day, one of the reasons engaging with Cameron as part of the team is so rewarding, focussed, engaging and determined with a razor sharp intellect are the characteristics that immediately come to mind when describing Cameron’s personal attributes and why I am nominating him for this category.“

Tim Lewis

Said the following about Cameron Dalziel:

“Since joining AECOM just over a year ago, Cameron has excelled in all he has done, from station upgrade design, to platform surveys, to assisting with our successful bid for the design of the Beckton Depot Upgrade and then working to deliver the project. Cameron is an all-rounder with a real appetite to learn and produces excellent work of high quality which has obviously been properly self-checked. As well as being on the path to ICE Chartership, Cameron has an active interest in rolling stock and has made valuable contributions to a number of our projects needing rolling stock input. He has also gone above and beyond in tackling other activities such as the recent NCE High Speed Hack (where he was a key member of the AECOM winning team with a project addressing rail decarbonization) as well as outreach to schools in the local community to kindle enthusiasm in engineering as a career.

Cameron has achieved all this in a way which exemplifies best values and behaviours. He is a great communicator, he actively encourages the involvement of others and the sharing of knowledge, and he proactively seeks ways in which to improve the efficiency of our working methods. With his usual good humour he showed a flexibility and willingness to work outside office hours during the survey work that was very much appreciated. He is totally unflappable, good natured, and a pleasure to work with, and as his line manager I have no hesitation in endorsing his nomination for this award.“

Edwin Marks

Said the following about Cameron Dalziel:

“While working with AECOM as a vacation student, Cameron admirably took on the concept development of a novel transport system for an airport rail link, demonstrating a flexibility to think outside the parameters of conventional rail solutions.

Since joining as a graduate his achievements have included supporting the first-time implementation of a database implementing requirements and hazard management on a high pressure depot design project. Cameron helped to cover for the unavoidable unavailability of more experienced staff in the critical startup phase, and has gone the extra mile in delivering the design verification submissions quickly and efficiently but always in line with quality standards. He now has a solid grounding in systems engineering to add to his other skills.“
