Said the following about Alice Attwood:

“Alice Attwood is the Public Relations Manager for GTR. Since the day I met her 2 years ago I have seen her work tirelessly to promote the company with interesting and important stories from our GTR employees. Alice has a gift for seeking out the stories that really reach the heart of an issue. She will concentrate on important issues and the people who matter. Her friendly and professional approach puts everyone at ease which ensures they get the best out of themselves when doing a Radio or Print interview, or even a piece for Television. She is passionate about her work but more importantly the subjects she chooses to promote.

Alice worked on a delicate story about a Train Driver that saved a woman’s life from potential suicide. Alice recognised the bravery in this Driver and what he had done. She understood the importance in revealing this story to the Media but ensured it was done in a respectful manner. The piece touched a lot of people and generated a positive response and a greater understanding of the Drivers role. Subsequently the Driver won a special award for his bravery this year due to the work Alice did with him. Alice also worked to promote the role of Driver to Women. This was achieved by reaching out to the Women Drivers in the company and hearing their stories and experiences as Train Drivers. Alice made it fun and inspiring. This was seen on the BBC, ITV, National and Local Newspapers. The campaign was so successful that the Female Trainee Driver intake increased by 30% within a year. Alice also worked hard on working with the newly established GTR LGBTQ+ Group to ensure the group was represented throughout Pride Month. This meant again personal accounts and stories from our LGBTQ+ employees on BBC, Radio and in Print. She also helped to make our first Trainbow a glorious splash of rainbow joy on the Network. It still travels up and down the Network today, making people smile as it’s hard to miss.

Alice looks for the best in people and shows us their individuality. She helps to promote the most important side of the business, our staff. She gives the hard working people of GTR the recognition they deserve and makes them shine. This is why she also deserves the award.“
