Said the following about Adam Flint:

“I would like to nominate Adam Flint as rail manager of the year for his passion and dedication to always put colleagues and passengers first.

Adam is the Local Operations Manager (Response) for the Wessex Inner Operations team and manages a large team of Mobile Operations Managers & Mobile Incident Officers. The geographic area that Adam manages includes extremely busy and critical locations, such as London Waterloo and Clapham Junction. Adam would never like to see a shift go uncovered at short notice and you would often find him attending bridge strikes, operating ground frames or attending major incidents such as derailments and fatalities to provide support to his staff.

Adam is a selfless individual who will always put the needs and wishes of others above his own. You will often find Adam working long days well above his hours to ensure that anyone with an issue is supported or to get passengers moving during incidents on the network.

As a fellow front line Ops Manager, I can only express my sincere admiration for the professionalism he displays on the job. One example that resonates greatly with me is how Adam had to recently deal with the sudden death of one of his staff, who had been admitted to hospital several weeks earlier. This must have been such an emotionally upsetting experience that nothing could ever prepare you for, however as always I could see that Adam's focus was on ensuring that his staff were being supported and that their needs and welfare came first. Adam also went above and beyond to support the widow of the colleague who had passed away and never shied away from what must have been some very difficult conversations to make her life that little bit easier.

Speaking from personal experience, I've never met someone as dedicated as Adam in my entire railway career. He's gone out of his way countless times to support both myself and other colleagues within Network Rail and the wider railway community. He is a "can do" person and makes a huge difference to the railway on a daily basis and would be a worthy winner of the rail manager of the year award.“

Paul Fleet

Said the following about Adam Flint:

“Adam consistently shows a strong sense of commitment to his role as Local Operations Manager (response Inner Wessex). Adam leads his team with sheer determination through thoroughly professional behaviours. His determination to ensure that we consider options of how we manage incidents or failures both in real-time and proactively for the future is a real inspiration. Adams meticulous attention on all matters safety related is relentless and helps create an excellent safety culture.

As Adam’s line manager I immensely proud of how Adam supports both his team and the wider operations team in Wessex in all our efforts to operate a safety and reliable railway but never forgetting the human

Adam is very much worthy of this award as recognition in of being and exceptional manager who is very much an unsung hero of operations.“
