The RailStaff Awards 2024

Nominations for Lifetime Achievement Award

Martin Bloomfield

Said the following about Stewart Marshall:

“I am nominating Stewart Marshall, Driver Team Manager, Birmingham New Street, Crosscountry for his long service to the rail industry with some 45 years to date. I have known Stewart since we first met back on the 11th November 2007 when the franchises merged into the current Crosscountry. Stewart has always been a conscious manager and inspiration to his Drivers. In the last few years Stewart has looked after all the new Drivers starting at Birmingham and will be very much thanked by these new members of staff for the warm welcome they received. Stewart began his career back in 1974 at Bescot and has remained in the Midlands all his railway career with spells throughout the depots and has left a lasting memory with the railway staff he has worked with over the years; layers and layers of railway run through his body. Stewart has been a steady and reliable member of staff and often would give guidance to the younger managers using his experienced knowledge from a brilliant railway career. Always one for being out and about regardless of the hours and weekends and very much supporting the pillars of the Arriva business working as one team, thinking outside the box and always doing the right thing for our great customer experience.“

Keith Barritt

Said the following about Stewart Marshall:

“Stewart was the first person I met when I joined Crosscountry Trains recently and within 5 mins of talking to him my first day nerves had disappeared.

He’s been great to talk to, very approachable and is highly respected amongst my colleagues.“
