Said the following about Scott Winthrop:

“I’ve nominated Scott because he responded to a call cautioning services due to a trespasser on the line near a Junction. SWR driver Scott Winthrop spotted the trespasser and noticed that she was very distressed and was able to encourage her to come onto the train and away from danger. Scott reported that he had the person on his train and would take her to the station and asked that the emergency services meet her at the station so that she could get the help that she needed. However once Scott arrived at the station the emergency services weren’t there. Scott didn’t want to leave the woman there alone as she was very distressed and Scott was very worried that she would cause herself injury. Scott stayed with her on the train until help arrived.

I spoke to Scott about this life saving intervention. Scott was very humble and downplayed his role in saving someone’s life that morning and said he was just doing what everyone else would have done, pointing out that a MOM was also involved. That may be so but on this day it was Scott who noticed the trespasser and noticed the trespasser was someone in desperate need of help and it was Scott who initially offered that help. That’s why I’m nominating Scott for this award.“
