Sophia Danielsson-Clayton - **HAS LEFT**

Said the following about Sasha Migdal:

“Sasha is a real charity champion. She works at Cambridge North as a Welcome Host and in the last year alone she has held numerous fundraising events at the station, with help from her colleagues there.

She has raised money for Cancer Research, Addenbrookes, the Alzheimer's Society, Macmillan and Cambridge's Oncology and Haemotology Unit, often bringing and engaging with the local community and featuring in local press.

She has hosted cake sales, raffles and more. One brilliant thing she did at Easter was contacting the local community to donate Easter Eggs to Cambridge's Oncology and Haemotology unit. (Tesco donated 30 alone). They then delivered hundreds of Easter eggs to the children in the ward - plus some extra for their families! This was the first time Easter eggs had been donated.

In October she hosted a coffee morning at the station, as well as a sponsored shave where two colleagues took the plunge and lost their hair for charity. They raised £528.10 for Macmillan in this event alone.

Her manager Anita Stuart recently presented her with a special award in recognition for her efforts, saying: “Sasha works really hard helping customers, but has gone the extra mile in supporting the whole community with lovely events that raise money for great local causes. She’s an absolute star and she makes Cambridge North a warm and welcoming place which is valued by the whole community.”“

Said the following about Sasha Migdal:

“Sasha deserves recognition in this category due to organising an Easter Egg collection and charity raffle for children spending Easter at Addenbrookes' Hospital in Cambridge. Her efforts raised over £300 with a raffle and hundreds of Easter Eggs were donated by passengers and local companies.

Sasha joined Greater Anglia early in 2017, to be a Customer Host at our brand new Cambridge North station which opened in May 2017. She was new to the railway family but quickly settled into her role which included greeting customers and helping them to purchase tickets using the Ticket Vending Machines.

At first, the station was quiet as Cambridge also has a main station which serves millions of customers each year. However, Sasha has organised numerous small fundraisers for Macmillan, usually involving baking cakes (which she is very good at!) together with colouring competitions at Halloween and Christmas for local children.

For Easter she decided to organise a collection of Easter eggs to give to children in Addenbrookes' Hospital in the oncology and haematology units. Sasha organised this in memory of one of her friends who had sadly passed away. Sasha thought she might get 20 or so Easter eggs but the event really caught on. Ely and Cambridge stations also got involved. As a group, we managed to collect over 300 Easter eggs and raised over £300 in a raffle. Sasha, together with a couple of the management team, drove to Addenbrookes to deliver the eggs. The event was featured in the local newspaper (Cambridge Evening news).

Sasha's fundraising efforts have really raised the profile of the new station. Revenue is up 52% in the past year and rising. Ticket issues are up over 45%, not bad for a station without a ticket office (just 3 Ticket Vending Machines!). Sasha has more ideas for future fundraising events and her enthusiasm for organising these events has encouraged other stations within our group to organise their own events.“
