“I nominate Ruth because she is the best project manager that I have worked alongside. Being a real people person with a strong personality she is someone who will reward great work and maximum effort but will certainly not stand for poor standards and little effort. She is very highly motivated and no matter how busy she is she will always find time for people. She has always taken on extra projects and delivered all on budget and on time with utmost professionalism and safe work practices. She will always support her team in any way she can and their development and progression is always the main focus for her.“

Said the following about Ruth House:

“Ruth has never backed down from a challenge and afraid of upsetting the status quo if it means we can deliver a project in a more efficient, safe and cost effective manner.

Having a customer who allows you the freedom to explore alternative delivery methods and sourcing SME contractors is a rare and Ruth and her team have always given me their full support in doing this.“

Said the following about Ruth House:

“Ruth is a highly valued member of my team who has made such an improvement to how we work in the Wales Route. Her job is to manage our Examination contract however, not content with the difficulties of the existing arrangement, Ruth has driven changes to drastically improve our position and seen the Wales Route as best practice in this field. Not content with this huge challenge, she has also taken on numerous additional project that she has successfully delivered to address some long standing problems.

Throughout, Ruth has always been a pleasure to work with, very caring, supportive yet demanding to achieve the best outcome.“

Martin Smith

Said the following about Ruth House:

“Very approachable, consistent and damn good at her job. Always there to help, but also takes on more than she should. I have spent the last 22 months with the team and it has a real family atmosphere about it, not only a good leader by example but a good friend too. She brings the best out in people but also expects the best. We are consistently improving the way we work and that can only be put down to great leadership, by a leader that constantly goes above and beyond herself. and I know from a personal view, I would have stagnated or left network rail if I had stayed where I was and would never improve. I am being encouraged to do more and achieving respect throughout the business due to freedom and confidence that she puts in the team. A revelation and major asset to network rail and the team.“

Said the following about Ruth House:

“Ruth is a dedicated, experienced and successful project manager. Ruth is also very much a people person, taking an active interest in the development of others whenever possible.

I’ve had the pleasure of working with Ruth on tunnel related projects for the past 5 year in which time Ruth has delivered a number of complex tunnel projects as well as managing the CEFA/CAFA works for Wales. Ruth successfully led the project to update all 53 tunnel Management Strategies in Wales. I’m currently working with Ruth to combine access for exam and maintenance in tunnels. Ruth’s ability to motivate and engage people is proving to play a key part in the success of the project.“

Her collaborative approach with contractors is infectious and productive yet she doesn't lose sight of the end goal and will always ensure Network Rails interests are at the forefront of all contractual discussions. Always a pleasure to work with.“

Said the following about Ruth House:

“Wales route structures team have been working with the Signalling Asset Management team to improve the way faults are dealt with and as part of that process we have gone to an annual visual exam on every signal and followed this up by bringing the exams in house and without Ruth's input and support this project would never have got off the ground. With Ruth's drive this project has put Wales ahead of the game in the details we know about all our signals and this project has helped the Signalling RAM prepare a programme of signal replacement across the route for sites where re-signalling in full is not an option at present.“

James Walsh

Said the following about Ruth House:

“Ruth’s determination and attention to detail ensures she always delivers to the highest standard. She continually goes above and beyond her duties and drives everything she does with a passion to succeed, innovate and provide savings at every opportunity.

I have witnessed Ruth apply this same determination and drive in the most compassionate of circumstances, when she instigated a tremendous fundraising effort for a terminally ill colleague. This caring and compassionate nature is also evident on a day to day basis; be it helping passengers on her travels or supporting colleagues in times of need. Ruth is an industry superstar!“

Paul West

Said the following about Ruth House:

“I have worked with Ruth for the past 6 years as she has project managed the Wales Route’s Civils Assessment Framework Agreement contract. She is very proactive and under her project management we have gone from a single supplier to multiple suppliers, in order to address cost and programme issues. This has helped to ensure that public money is spent efficiently, and that the capability of structural assets is regularly assessed, to enable us to maintain a safe and reliable railway. Ruth never dodges tough decisions and is always willing to help find solutions to problems. She is also very supportive and ready to give praise when it is due. There is never a dull moment when Ruth is in the office!“
