Nominations for Train Driver of the Year

James Mee - **HAS LEFT**

Said the following about Roy Bagnall - **HAS LEFT**:

“On 19th July 2018, Virgin Trains’ Wolverhampton Driver Roy Bagnall was waiting at Birmingham New Street with Train Manager Dylan Thomas to work a train to London Euston. The pair noticed platform staff running towards the north end of the platform, and were informed that there was a person walking up the track towards the nearby tunnel. After checking that the lines had been blocked, they also ran towards the trespasser to see what they could do to help. It turned out to be a young lady, and Roy began to speak to her, asking how he could help. Dylan reported that the young lady responded really well to Roy’s approach and demeanour and began to engage with him, which allowed Dylan to keep a look out. Roy’s calm, friendly personality allowed him to persuade the young lady to turn around and walk back towards the platform where BTP Officers were waiting. Roy’s efforts certainly saved her from physical harm. Well done Roy – you are a credit to Virgin Trains.“
