Said the following about Romford Station Team:

“I would like to nominate Romford station because we all work together from gate line to ticket office and platform, and even the land sheriffs on platform two. We all go that extra mile we all support each other during disruption and emergency. Because Romford is a big and busy station we have had our fair share of heart attacks, trips and falls along with drunks and aggressive people but as a team we have worked together to overcome these situations and each time we get stronger and a lot more wiser and have made Romford a safe place to travel to and from.

Some of the extra mile staff are

Richard baker and the Land Sheriffs: Bobby Shah, Ashley Cullen, Jack Evans, Jeff Bowles, Cosmin Szabo, David Johnston, Aaron Mohangee, Steve Smith.

These guys are our heroes at Romford platform two, always there to call upon for help with aggressive customers or vulnerable people. And lots of other things for instance when Bobby and Jack volunteered to make sure a big group of school kids got off the train safely and lead them down the slope like the pipe piper with all the children following behind it was such a lovely sight we are all grateful for this amazing team.

Richard Baker, has worked on platform two for about two years and in that time he has helped stop 24 suicide attempts and makes sure everybody is behind the yellow line. And just recently arranged for a young autistic boy to have a train ride in driver’s cabin to Liverpool St and back, to which he revived a thank you card from the boy and his mum who really appreciated what Richard had done for them.

Paul Holt, works on gate line, when we had a person hit by train Paul's shift had actually finished but he stayed for an extra hour and didn't want to get paid for it. I asked him why he hadn’t left? He replied "there's no way I am going home to leave the customers who had witnessed it like that". They were shaking and looked like they were going to faint.

And of course many more things about the staff at Romford and what makes us the best rail team of the year but unfortunately I can't write about them all ..“
