Said the following about Richard Bonella:

“Richard is an experienced railway engineer with over 20 years in the European rail industry. He is a member of the IRSE with broad railway infrastructure and vehicle control systems knowledge. A signalling specialist, Richard is also fully conversant with all aspects of safety assurance, approvals and assessments including Railway Interoperability, CSM-RA and ROGS Regulations.

Richard first joined Network Rail in 2002 and used his signalling systems experience to provide engineering guidance and support to ETCS projects in UK and in Europe. Richard also worked on the development and acceptance of signalling products and systems specialising in computer based interlocking’s, cab signalling and ATP.

Richard has worked in Network Certification Body for five years and has undertaken many diverse assignments. In the last 12 months Richard has been the Lead Engineer for a number of high profile projects, such as Barking Riverside and entire Thameslink programme, both requiring signalling specialist knowledge.

During Richards’s time in Network Certification Body (NCB) he has become a subject matter expert with regards to CSM, and Notified and Designated Body assessments also. Richard has used his knowledge of CSM and taken ownership of upskilling employee’s within NCB and Network Rail. The support that he offers is so highly valued that his training on CSM has been built into the induction process within NCB.

Richard demonstrates passion and commitment to his job; he has a belief in and support for the organisation and is dedicated to getting the job done. Richard embodies NCB’s guiding principles of “Dedication” and Service”, he mentors staff and has a willingness to pass on his knowledge, skills and experience in order to support others.
