Said the following about Mohamed Wazeer:

“Mohamed Wazeer is a key member of AECOM E&P team in Swindon since January 2017. He joined as a Graduate Electrical Engineer and is part of AECOM’s Graduate Development Scheme. AECOM’s Graduate Programme is affiliated by IET.

He has played a key role as Electrical designer on Old Oak Common Decommissioning and Essential Works projects. Both of these projects at Old Oak Common were part of HS2 preparation works. AECOM was directly contracted to Network Rail.

The objective of the project was to provide an Option Selection and design to Approval in Principal (AiP). The work consists of modification (relocation and resupply) of the operationally critical Electrification and Plant (E&P) and Signalling and Telecoms (S&T) assets affected by the proposed HS2 station and associated works at Old Oak common.

The works include:-

• Relocation and resupply of the 6.6kV high voltage (HV) system

• Alteration to 25kV Traction power systems including auto-transformer feeder (ATF) feeder stations and routes

• Low Voltage systems including S&T line of route systems

• Cable routing including troughs undertrack crossings (UTX) etc.

During the option selection phase Mohamed Wazeer produced plans showing the eight different potential sites for the new HV infeed substation for the 6.6kV ring and their pros & cons; also sketches showing at high level the feeding arrangement for the various options previously defined by NR. He also produced cost estimates for these options. He did a lot of the work in putting together the slides for the option selection presentation. He liaised with the Distribution Network Operators) DNO’s to obtain budget quotes for the sites under consideration for the new HV supply, and a new LV supply required to replace the existing 6.6kV Substation ‘C’. In the AiP stage he produced, with guidance from Senior Engineers, the design for the replacement of Substation ‘C’. This was to a level of detail higher than strictly necessary for AiP, which included understanding power modelling calculations for the system and developing detailed knowledge of the associated modelling software.

He is very proactive and diligent in delivering work assigned to him. He is fast learner and makes extra effort to research and understand the concepts. He has delivered his submissions within the allocated budget and programme. The Project Manager for Old Oak Common was extremely impressed and had following comments for him:

“Waleed has been exceptional in his delivery to the Old Oak Common Essential Works (OOC EW) project, he is diligent and knows his scope, he is confident in his knowledge and shares openly issues or challenges that he may have. He has taken an active role in supporting the scheme with CAD/BIM works correcting/challenging the standards of others with the team. He has shown a confident, clear approach when explaining solutions to his peers. Waleed has been “my go to person” for EW scheme and his commitment and diligence has been impressive, I am very proud of his achievements and I would like to continue to work with Waleed in the future to help support, mentor and develop his career”.

Waleed is a credit to the company. He has a bright future with AECOM, as he will continue to gain skills in various areas of Electrification and will pass on his skills to junior engineers in the years to come.“
