“Commitment to inclusion and diversity.
Michelle has been the driving force of inclusion and diversity in GTR. The way Michelle has approached this subject is why we feel she deserves to be recognised. Michelle arranged for 35 GTR employees to join a joint Bus and Rail inclusion and diversity convention.
Michelle organised key speakers and ensured that GTR play a key part in this event. The event was an uplifting and hugely relevant subject. Michelle’s drive and determination and genuine passion for the subject really shines.
I think being a great leader is about foresight and determined action to make a difference. The one thing noticeable about Michelle is that she puts her whole heart into making a difference. I know this subject is close to her heart.
To cement this submission we asked a number of GTR employees how attending this conference and the work that Michelle undertakes has impacted them personally.

Having recently started to work for Michelle I have really been inspired by her passion and commitment. One area she’s really passionate about is diversity and inclusion, and it was amazing to be able to attend the conference. Michelle I know helped organise with the aim to raise awareness around these topics and also to ensure that as a company we discuss and promote diversity and inclusion in the workplace for me personally I found the event really useful and it opened my eyes to some difficulties that these subjects bring.
Zoey:
The Diversity and inclusion conference which took place was the first Go AHead Group conference. It not only gave attendees the opportunity to hear from a number of inspirational speakers and get involved in workshops on this topic, but more importantly, the tone was set for GO AHead businessses in terms of galvanising change in mindset and approach which are needed to make positive difference in this space.
It took a real leap of faith, hard work and passion and commitment from individuals such as MIchelele to make this event happen. mIchelle is a true ambassador and champion for diversity and inclusion and it’s through her drive, tenacity and sheer determination is leading our business on a journey to tackle these important business critical issues. Michelle fully deserves recognition not only for her contribution to the inaugural Diversity and Inclusivity conference but also for the work she does on a day to day basis to cut through barriers in this area.

I learnt a lot and the day was thoughtful and enjoyable.
