Nominations for Rail Person of the Year

Oliver Dix

Said the following about Jonathan Gormley:

“The reason why I have nominated Jon is because of the time and effort that he has devoted in teaching me about the railway and engineering. Not just me, but Jon ensures that other apprentices and newcomers to the industry have the necessary knowledge and learning in order to understand the railway. Jon's attitude and sense of humour at the office is great and he is a joy to work with. Also, Jon has always helped me from my very first week and he is always there if you need any further explanation. Not only has Jon just made time in order to teach me, but the way Jon explains railway related terms and electrical assets is second to none. Nobody would believe that Jon has only been in the industry for two years as it seems more like thirty with all the knowledge that he has. Furthermore, Jon participates in activities outside of work to show that he is a great team player. Jon is clearly a fast learner, excellent tutor and a great Rail Person of the Year.“

Paul Britnell

Said the following about Jonathan Gormley:

“Jon has recently been promoted from Graduate Engineer to Assistant Engineer. This promotion has been enabled by the fact that he always tackles any challenge with enthusiasm and will always go 'the extra mile' to ensure that delivery dates and targets are met, without any compromise to quality. Jon will never shy away from a challenge, and as all good engineers he is not afraid to ask questions, and by doing this very quick to learn differing aspects of the rail industry including design, delivery processes, estimation and planning. Jon will be a great asset to the rail industry as he continues through his career.“
