Nominations for Customer Service Award

Sandy Dos Santos

Said the following about Jamie Martin:

“I am nominating on behalf of the child’s mothers. Her testimony is below.

Dreams can definitely come true if you just simply believe. Sometimes dreams can remain as dreams unless you meet some wonderful people along the way, who offer their unconditional help, support and understanding to pursue your dreams. That is what happened to us when we met an amazing person Mr Jamie Martin Customer Experience Ambassador.

I won't go into too much detail of our story, my main aim by writing this is to extend my appreciation and gratitude to everyone, who has made my son Daniel's dream come true. Daniel is a 9 years old boy, who has been diagnosed with autism.

When Daniel was two, he has shown great interest in trains. His first train toy in fact was Thomas the Tank Engine. Since the age of four, he's been extremely interested in Southeastern trains.

Daniel's favourite train station is Greenhite where he has got a favourite viewing spot to admire the passing trains, take pictures and videos. When at home, Daniel likes to draw and paint trains, also he moulds train models by using clay and dough.

Each time we used to travel via Slade Green, Daniel always used to express great interest to the trains there and always wished to see them from up close.

In February we had an opportunity to visit the Engine shed, at South London group. The Engine shed is a special interest group for children and young people with autism who like trains. They can play and enjoy their interest in a welcoming, safe and relaxing environment – and their parents can talk in a supportive atmosphere. That was the first time when we met Mr Jamie Martin at the London Bridge station while we were waiting for a train to Streatham Common.

Jamie was truly amazing the way he was communicating and interacting with Daniel, unfortunately it doesn't happen very often for children like Daniel. For us as parents of disabled children, such attentiveness means a lot. Jamie has kindly offered to take Daniel to one of the platforms so that he could observe and watch the passing trains.

Jamie's family should be extremely proud to have raised such an amazing, kind and thoughtful person. People like Jamie make this world brighter and better. He’s a true asset to your team. He planned the trip to Slade Green depot for us and had his friend draw an amazing picture of a Southeastern train that he framed and gave to Daniel and he was even more amazing when he made a collage of Daniels artwork at the Cannon Street station on the station displays.

My heartfelt Thank You to Jamie because of your kindness Daniel had the most amazing day. Due to his condition Daniel is unable to express his feelings, however I can assure you all, my son had the best day and we will treasure the memories for long time.“
