Said the following about Jamie Clarke:

“Whilst conducting a static tasking at the station during the evening peak service Jamie witnessed a male jumped from the London end of the up platform. There was a train approaching on the down line that stopped and sounded his horn.

Jamie Immediately made way to where several members of the public had begun shouting at the male to return to the platform, Jamie approached close to the edge and with the help of the members of public pulled the male back onto the up platform.

It was clear the male was distressed as he was crying, Jamie introduced himself and asked if we could help, he told Jamie he wanted to see his mum who is in heaven, at this point the train that had stopped on the downline had started to move again and the male instantly began to struggle and attempted to make his way to the tracks, Jamie had to physically restrained the male. At this point Jamie asked his colleague for Police to be called.

The male continued to struggle to get away and towards the tracks but he was unsuccessful and remained detained against the fencing. Jamie continued to keep the male talking to distract him from the situation and eventually he begun to calm down and became apologetic.

Police soon arrived on site and took the male away for further assessment.

I believe without Jamie’s quick thinking this situation could have led to someone losing their life.“
