Said the following about Gary Lobue:

“I am honoured to be able to call Gary a colleague. His passion, work ethic and leadership qualities are unquestionable. Since joining our business, Gary has been pivotal in driving safety and the welfare of our workforce by instilling our core values in all levels of the Ganymede business.

With 40 years’ service to the rail industry, he thoroughly deserves recognition for his commitment to the rail industry. Gary first started earning his rail industry stripes as a track worker for the civil engineering department out of Beighton, Sheffield before progressing into possession management and training roles. When in these roles, he realised he had a talent and a need to move into a safety position in which he felt he could make a positive difference.

All of the early roles Gary has undertaken and the 20 years spent in training and safety has helped hone Gary’s skills. This was why we worked tirelessly to get Gary involved with Ganymede. We are proud to be able to call upon his experience and trust him in his senior position as Head of HSEQ, pushing the safety and welfare of our rail business.

He has and is proving to be a fantastic ambassador to the business and someone that all our management and operatives on site can look up to.

For me, Gary unequivocally deserves the lifetime achievement award as he should be recognised for everything he has given to the industry he loves - most notably for all of his working life.“

Suzanne Thorpe

Said the following about Gary Lobue:

“I have known Gary for over 10 years, we have worked together over this time in various roles and organisations.

Gary's knowledge of the industry, particularly around the infrastructure is second to none, if I have any questions he's my 'go to' person and he will always take time to answer them.

When you work with Gary, what you really see, is someone that genuinely cares about the health and safety of the people working on the front line. He is very understated in his manner, he doesn't shout about things, he talks to people, he shares his views and ideas and gets everyone on board because he usually has a sensible approach that everyone can buy into.“

Garry Taylor

Said the following about Gary Lobue:

“I have known Gary pretty much all of my railway working career, meeting Gary whilst he was a railway trainer/assessor with a local provider.

He is a very inspirational person, approachable, experienced, skilled and knowledgeable and an individual to certainly look up to. In the early days of my career, Gary often delivered training to me at my local provider here in Doncaster. Along with some funny and real life scenarios the knowledge and skills gained have served me well through my own career and provided me with foundations to become a qualified trainer/assessor as well as develop health & safety practice to the highest of standards.

Gary now heads up safety for Ganymede and is an extremely close partner to us. I have seen across the past three years significant changes to the behaviour and culture within Ganymede and I am confident that is consequential to Gary's influence.

Clearly Gary has achieved a lot that has supported the rail industry in his career and such it would be a privilege for the industry to honour this hard work and dedication with the Lifetime achievement award.“
