Said the following about Engineering Training:

“During 2017, the Norwich and Ilford Training and Competence Team has shown great flexibility to ensure all the training requirements for the Engineering functions were facilitated.

This included unscheduled training for the Cross Rail Blockade and a full training suit for competency training for the Norwich Ground Lathe. Training requirements enabling the Ilford fleet to be maintained for GA, MTR and LOROL, while not having access to the associated depots utilising many outstation locations required the Trainers to create a plan to deliver 24 / 7 as required. The time frames for both projects were achieved while keeping the day to day job working in the back ground.

The whole team provide a huge supportive role to the greater Engineering team ensuring they are encouraged and supported throughout their development programmes. They adapt to industry need and change with a fast positive approach, providing great diversity within their training style and programmes.

They actively support local senior schools and colleges through Business in the Community, with Depot visits and full day interactive development programmes within the school calendar. They work to provide diversity and encourage school leavers to understand the size and opportunities of Engineering and our company.

Working with the Apprentice College provider they have enabled colleagues to visit and work within other depots sharing best practice and extending the Rail Engineering family.

Currently working to provide a paperless system for the Competency Management System they will have modernised and simplified a very paper heavy process, reducing time and complexity.

Considering the team have had new colleagues joining the team, changes to the Managerial structure within Engineering and the Franchise, re- traction modernisation of class 321's and the future delivery of the new fleet for Stadler and Bombardier, they have continued to stay motivated and enthused.

They are actively working with Greater Anglia's training departments to provide a harmonised approach 'making life easier' also soon to include visits to Scot Rail.

The 'Team' provide flexibility throughout the Greater Anglia network, supporting each other with training requirements regardless of their home depot.

They all are very well respected for their knowledge and individual characters, providing valued guidance and advice to all levels within Greater Anglia. They strive to make a difference and to support change.“
