Said the following about Daniel Burn:

“Daniel is the Gatwick Express Station manager for Victoria station. He is an absolutely fearsome advocate for disability rights.

Over the years I have known Daniel, he has consistently gone well beyond his remit to explore new and innovative ways to help people with a range of disabilities to travel with dignity and care.

Daniel has worked with many charities and support groups to listen to the challenges faced by passengers travelling by train and implement changes to help them.

He has hosted "try a train" events, working with local and national charities so that people in the local community living with disabilities can experience train travel in a controlled environment, find out more about the specialist services on offer and ask as many questions as they like. Recent feedback from passengers living with dementia was that it had given them the confidence to travel by train again.

Daniel recently supported a local autism support group, raising over £2,000 to help their work and giving up his day off in order to attend their fundraising day and answer any questions.

Daniel is a truly inspirational leader by example. His work ethic has to be seen to be believed and his charity work is a vocation for him.

Daniels’s tireless efforts have resulted in an incredibly collaborative and positive working relationship with Gatwick Airport, where there was none previously. He has developed a wide-ranging network of charity partners who are informing his accessibility and inclusivity strategy and is fundamentally changing how the Gatwick Express is seen by the local community.“
