“The team of Control Centre Technicians (or "Box TOs") at TVSC have been a constant and immense support to the Signallers and Shift Managers ever since the centre opened. Dealing with issues both proactively and reactively, the team have, to a man, never let us down and their ability and resourcefulness leave many other teams in their wake.
On one memorable occasion, the entire signalbox power supply failed, after an overnight mains failure test, resulting in the need to reset a huge number of systems. The Box TOs worked tirelessly to reset the equipment, to ensure that no trains were delayed the following morning.
The teamwork shown by the group shines through, with each member staying on beyond their allocated time on many occasions to ensure incidents are dealt with and train delays are minimised.
Not only do they assist the Operating staff, they are a source of valuable aid and assistance to technicians 'on the ground' and to control and contractors. Whenever assistance is called for, we know we can rely with absolute certainty on the friendly assistance of our TOs.
The Thames Valley area of Network Rail is considerably better off for the dedicated contribution of this group.“
