“Andy is a train for Virgin Trains and on the evening in June 2018 whilst working his train was brought to a stand at a red signal and was advised by the signaller to proceed at caution as there had been a report of a trespasser lineside. On proceeding with the train Andy observed a male who looked somewhat distressed and behaving strangely. Andy brought the train to a stand and got out the cab to go and speak to the male. The male had cuts to his hands were he had accessed the railway via a boundary fence, Andy began speaking to the male who was telling Andy how bad his life was, and he wanted to end it all. Andy began speaking to him that things would get better, and he could turn things around and his family needed him. Andy had to keep hold of the male as he was attempting to run away. All whilst this was taking place Andy was liaising with the Train Manager who was speaking with control.“
